DEFENDERS Software QA Automation Engineer in INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana

Overview

Position Summary :This position is primarily responsible for ensuring a product or service meets the established standards of quality including reliability, usability and performance.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews functional and operations requirements to understand desired capabilities.

  • Collaborate with QA teams, business analysts, product owners, developers within the teams to ensure understanding and compliance with requirements.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining manual and automation test scripts a per the current QA process.

  • Lead the automation testing efforts across multiple interrelated projects/ systems/ applications and/or for a business unit. Serve as a technical resource to other IT QA/test professionals, mentoring less‐experienced staff with responsibility for their technical development.

  • Recommend automation process improvements to management to provide operational efficiencies. Commit to deliverables for scope of work with customers and/or management.

  • Ensure timely completion of all QA deliverables for all projects artifacts.

  • Report to and keep the QA Manager informed of all the issues and roadblocks.

  • Promptly escalate issues, which affect product delivery and quality that are beyond scope of influence and report same to QA Manager.

  • Quality, on time delivery of agreed deliverables.

  • Contribute toward predictable delivery of quality releases research, recommend and implement tools as needed with the goal of increasing automation

  • Mentor team members on automation.

  • Proactively bringing issues and problems to the attention of the team; generating, proposing and implementing innovative solutions to solve them.

  • Be meticulous about documentation and maintaining a robust log of all test cases and test results.

  • Contribute to the company knowledge base and process improvements.

  • As a responsible team member completes all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Background & Education:

Education: Requires BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and work experience in Software Quality Assurance. ISTQB or CSTE certified.

Skills/Background: Good understanding of SDLC process. Highly proficient understanding of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) concepts. Exceptional oral, written and customer service skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 4 years’ experience working in Java, Groovy and object oriented programming language. Familiar with CI, BDD using cucumber, Artificial Intelligence, SQL Queries. Create and update Manual and automation test cases and execute. Perform Functional testing, Adhoc testing, Exploratory testing, Smoke testing. At least 3 years’ experience using Microsoft Team Foundation Server of VSTS. Proficient in doing front end and backend testing using SQL queries. Test to break attitude. Flexible in working under changing and different work settings. Maintain high team morale. Adhere to company and project standards and guidelines. Experience in Selenium and SOAP UI/ Swagger/ Postman tool for web based testing and API testing for automation. Proficient with bug tracking and test management toolsets to support development processes. Strong working knowledge of testing fundamentals such as TDD & BDD. Proficient working with relational databases such as SQL. Some knowledge of Unix/Linux.

Minimum Years Experience: 7 or more years of experience in Software Quality Assurance with proven test engineering skill.
